Congressional Committees
Standing committees
Standing committees are permanent committees that try to cover most of the issues brought up in congress. The house of representatives has 22 standing committees, and the senate has 16 standing committees.
Subcommittees
Subcommittees are committees within a standing committee, and handle more specific things within a general topic.
Select Committees
select committees are not permanent committees, and cover topics that aren't covered by standing committees.
Conference Committees
Conference committees are committees formed to make a compromise on a bill when the two branches of congress pass different forms of the same bill.
Joint committees
joint committees are committees that contain members from both the senate and the house, and are designed so both branches of congress can work together to solve a problem.
